FAQs
Questions about your free ESG report
Everything people usually ask before they start. Cannot see yours? Email [email protected] and a real person will reply.
Cost and getting started
Is the ESG report really free?
Yes. Your first report is free. There is no card to enter, no trial that turns into a subscription and nothing to cancel.
Can I stop and come back later?
Yes. You add your email after the first few questions and your report saves as you go. There is no password: when you come back, we email you a sign-in code, so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
How long does it take?
Most small businesses finish in under 30 minutes. A sole trader working from home or in a co-working space is often done in 10 to 15 minutes. Businesses with vehicles or their own premises usually take 30 to 45 minutes.
Do I need any ESG or sustainability experience?
None at all. Every question is in plain English and explains why it is being asked. If something does not apply to you, the questionnaire skips it.
Your answers and data
What if I do not know some of the numbers?
That is completely normal. For most questions you can choose an estimate instead, for example using your office floor area rather than your electricity bill. Your report clearly shows which figures are measured and which are estimated, which is exactly what readers want to see.
What information should I have to hand?
It depends on your business. Office-based firms find a recent electricity and gas bill useful. Businesses with vehicles should have fuel receipts or rough mileage. Sole traders often need nothing more than a rough count of work trips by train or plane.
Where are my answers stored?
On our servers, so you can pick up where you left off and we can run and improve ESG Now. Our privacy policy explains how we use and share data.
The report itself
What do I get at the end?
A shareable ESG report covering environmental, social and governance, your Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon footprint and a private action plan with your priorities.
Who can I share the report with?
Anyone who asks about your ESG: investors, grant funders, customers, procurement teams, banks and insurers. It is written to be read quickly by someone outside your business.
How is my carbon footprint calculated?
We follow the GHG Protocol and use the UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting, matched to your reporting period. Every calculation is listed in the appendix, so the working is fully transparent.
Is the report audited or verified?
No. It is a self-prepared report based on the information you provide, and it says so clearly. If a customer or funder specifically asks for independent assurance, that is a separate service from a qualified assurance provider.
Does it include a Carbon Reduction Plan for public sector tenders?
Your report gives you the carbon footprint and baseline figures you need to complete the official PPN 006 Carbon Reduction Plan template. It covers the Scope 3 categories PPN 006 asks for, including employee commuting and business travel, except transport and distribution paid for by your customers, which you would add separately.
Your first report is free.
